The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has recorded a significant breakthrough in its ongoing clampdown on violent crime, with the arrest of three notorious kidnap suspects linked to a series of high-profile abductions and murders within Abuja and neighbouring states.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the suspects were apprehended in coordinated operations conducted on June 13, 17, and 18, 2025, by operatives of the Command’s elite Scorpion Squad, led by ACP Victor O. Godfrey.

The operations, based on credible digital intelligence, took place across Kaduna, Niger, and Nasarawa States.

The suspects were identified as:Ya’u Shittu (27) from Kafanchan, Kaduna State,Sale Usman (30) from Niger State and Ibrahim Abdullahi (28) from Mpape, Abuja.

All three had been on the Command’s wanted list for their involvement in a series of violent kidnappings and murders.

The operation also led to the capture of Ibrahim Abdullahi, identified as the gang’s arms supplier.

Acting on intelligence provided by the suspects, police operatives stormed the syndicate’s hideout in Bukuru, Nasarawa State, on June 18, 2025. The encounter escalated into a gun duel when gang members opened fire on the police team. Abdullahi was shot while attempting to escape and subsequently rearrested. Other members of the syndicate fled the scene and are currently being hunted.

Items recovered from the hideout included a long knife and various charms believed to be used by the gang for their criminal activities.

In his reaction, the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao S. Adewale, commended the operatives for their courage and professionalism.

He urged residents of the FCT to remain vigilant and cooperate fully with security agencies by reporting any suspicious activity.
